On 30 March 2022, the Gaia-X Hub Austria was officially confirmed by the European Gaia-X Association. Formed at the initiative of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs (BMDW) and the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK), the Hub is a consolidation of interested organizations for which a modern data infrastructure is essential. This national initiative was launched by the BMDW and BMK with the inclusion of a broad base of relevant interest groups from the areas of Austrian research, technology, and industry.
