About our Workshop on the 20th. May (Time: 14:30-15:15):
This session offers a practical introduction to the concept of Data Spaces and their relevance for modern, data-driven business models. Hosted by Gaia-X Hub Austria, the workshop will provide a clear overview of what Data Spaces are, how they work, and why they matter, supported by hands-on examples.

Participants will gain insights into the otherwise abstract concept of Data Spaces through illustrative examples:

  • A Battery Passport demonstrator, using the EDC Connector, as well as the GAIA-X Trust Framework, developed in a research context
  • Business-oriented use cases, built with CANCOM’s Federated Stack, each showcasing different implementation approaches.

The goal is to make Data Spaces more tangible and to illustrate the variety of approaches that exist in building and operating them.

Workshop Highlights:
• What is a Data Space? – A concise introduction to the fundamentals of Data Spaces and their role in federated data infrastructures.
• Battery Passport Demonstrator– Understanding the principles of a Data Space in action, addressing transparency and traceability in the battery life cycle.
• Business Use Cases – Exploration of diverse implementations using CANCOM’s Federated Stack, showcasing multiple paths toward secure and interoperable data sharing.
• Key Takeaways – Understanding the flexibility, business value, and sovereignty aspects of federated data ecosystems.
